Annual distribution: $42,500. The Board of Directors of the UCLA Foundation approves the annual distribution rate, currently at 4.25%, based on a rolling 12-quarter average market value (with one quarter lag).

Scholarships and Student Support
Provide vital support for students in the Food Studies minor, graduate student research and the overall expansion of Food Studies with the Chef-in-Residence Initiative.
Partnerships and Public Events
Connect food studies leaders to UCLA, strengthen community relationships and provide knowledge-building opportunities for students with symposia, seminars and conferences.
Course Innovation
Incentivize innovative new course offerings that meet high student demand. Course areas include Food Justice and Race, Foodborne Illness and Global Health, among others.
Institute Advancement
Support the outreach, programming and operations of the Institute with funding that expands research and communications, empowering next-phase launches on campus and beyond.
UCLA Teaching Kitchen Equipment & Course Support
With your support of $100,000, we will develop resources that enhance access to affordable food and teach students how to cook healthy meals with affordable ingredients.
Lecture Series
Name an endowed annual lecture series that allows us to host food studies leaders who inspire our communities and start crucial conversations for future generations.
Named Endowed Term Chair
With your support of $1 million, we will create an endowed chair for food studies scholars to lead research and mentor students in science, nutrition, humanities and economics.

Securities and Wires
Gifts of appreciated securities are tax deductible at their full market value. In most cases, appreciation in the value of the security benefits the University and is not taxable to the donor. Matching Gifts
The easiest way to double – or even triple – your contribution to UCLA is to request a match from your employer. Pledges
A pledge is a statement of intention to make a gift to UCLA. Donors who seek to defer the bulk of their giving until a future date, or who want to give via installments over time, may use this giving strategy. Pledges are typically made in concert with a preliminary “first installment” gift and provide a source of consistent and dependable funding for the University.
Real Estate
Real property, either in its entirety or in part, can be deeded to The UCLA Foundation to benefit the University. For residential properties, it is possible to arrange a sizable tax deduction by deeding a home to UCLA, while continuing to occupy the property for life.
Bequests
In writing a will or living trust, donors can specify that they would like their estate to benefit UCLA. Donors who wish to have their gifts managed by The UCLA Foundation must specifically state in their wills or living trusts that their gifts be made to The UCLA Foundation. Qualified Retirement Plans
Naming The UCLA Foundation as a beneficiary of your qualified retirement plan (IRA, KEOGH, 401(k) or 403(b)) may be particularly advantageous; doing so may result in more assets being passed on to your heirs than if you make a bequest from other funds in your estate.
